The UAE government declared the Alhosn app (available for both Android and Apple) as the official smartphone app for COVID-19 results in the UAE. And of late, it has been updated with new features to facilitate efficient display of COVID-19 information. The newest update adds a feature that displays a ‘green pass protocol’, based on the PCR test results and vaccination status.
The app now has three modes — red, gray and green. When the status reflects red, it means that the test result is positive. Similarly, gray depicts the validity has expired while green means that a negative PCR test result is valid.
With effect from August 20, only those vaccinated can access most public places in Abu Dhabi. In order to gain access, the Alhosn app on your smartphone must display a green status.
These public spaces include but are not limited to gyms, restaurants, shopping malls, cafes, sport centers, and other apparel and retail outlets. Pharmacies and supermarkets are excluded.
