UAE: Special Expo 2020 Dubai Passport Unveiled

As we draw closer to what is dubbed as the “World’s Biggest Event”, the Expo 2020 committee is starting to pull the curtains on the specialties of the World Expo 2020. One such specialty is carrying forward a tradition that first took birth in the 1967 World Expo held in Montreal, Canada: Expo 2020 Dubai Passport.

The passport can be availed for a mere AED 20 at the official retail page of the Expo 2020 website, at Terminal 3 of DXB International Airport, or at any of the Expo official stores at the expo site.

Features of the Expo 2020 Dubai Passport

• It’s a golden yellow, customizable booklet that serves as a passport within the expo site.
• It is the official product of World Expo 2020.
• It can be used at every country pavilion to get stamped.
• The passport contains the pictures and designs of the most prominent landmarks of the Expo site, including the three thematic pavilions, Al Wasl Plaza, and many other architectural wonders.
• It is equipped with security details, like, a unique number, an area designated for a passport-sized photo, watermarked images, and personal details — all to ensure that it functions as a regular passport.
• The last page — page 50 — of the passport pays homage to UAE’s Founding Father and carries a golden foil stamp in commemoration of UAE’s Golden Jubilee Year.

Inspiration Behind the Expo Passport

When it was launched in 1967, it became an immediate favourite of the expo participants and has become one of the best souvenirs in Expo history. The latest iteration of the Expo 2020 passport borrows extensively from UAE’s heritage and depicts the country’s past with its present. It delineates the trifecta of the pavilions: Alif, the mobility pavilion; Mission Possible — the opportunity pavilion, and Terra — the sustainability pavilion. It also sets in detail the elements of the Al Wasl Plaza — the acclaimed crown jewel of the expo site and the world’s largest projection dome, and other architectural and cultural wonders of the Dubai.

The 50^th page of the passport celebrates the 50^th anniversary of the UAE. In commemoration of the same, the 50^th page features a gold foil and a photograph from 1971, when UAE was amalgamated. On December 2^nd, expo participants will receive a special stamp on their Expo passport.

World Expo 2020 commences from the 1^st of October, 2021 and goes on for six full months and ends on March 31, 2022. It expects to host over 25 million participants from over 191 countries, and will lay the foundation for the coming of a new world.
