UAE: Two new Visas for Tourists and Remote Workers Announced

Visa Stamp Approval

Following the trail of the recent developments in UAE immigration, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid — in a fresh announcement — introduced two new visas.

  • Remote Visa
  • Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa

The intendment of rolling out the Remote Visa is anchored with the initiative of encouraging professionals from all walks of life to connect with their work abroad while residing in the UAE. It significantly helps freelancers in the UAE with a valid freelancer visa to work for employers from around the world.

As for the Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa, it intends to provide more flexibility in traveling for people from all nationalities. This provision on the Tourist Visa favors entrepreneurs who are carrying out business setup in Dubai.

The announcement of these two new visas came in late March as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum took to Twitter to announce these changes after he presided over a cabinet meeting on 21st March. He also emphasized that the introduction of other such initiatives is in full swing and work is underway in offering the best quality of life for citizens and residents.

Remote Visa — What is it?

This is a one-year visa whose issuance enables professionals from all nationalities to live and work remotely from the UAE. This visa is designed specially to facilitate professionals whose work is based in another country.

The beneficiaries of this visa shall reside under their own sponsorship. Additionally, they will have to abide by the T&C issued with the visa.

The introduction of the Remote Visa aims at providing professionals and freelancers the opportunity to thrive in one of the safest places on earth. Not to mention, this visa strives at providing homeostasis in the work-life balance of the regular employee. Not only that, but it also is predicted to boost productivity and expand the digital skills in an employee’s repertoire. Many business setup consultants in Dubai have already speculated a positive effect in the introduction of the remote visa.

Multi-Entry Tourist Visa — What’s New?

By default, the five-year visa does not need a guarantor. For every ingress into UAE, the visa holder can opt to stay for a maximum of 90 days; this can also be extended by another 90 days. The multi-entry tourist visa permits people of all nationalities to enter and exit the country as many times as needed.
